The Tigers' wrestling team took a 60-21 win over host Streator Friday night in NCIC conference grappling action.
Nine Tigers picked up pinfall wins, Including Reese Bird (103), Brewer Ary (119).

There were no state tournament runs this year for Bureau County volleyball teams and none made it past the regional level.
But that doesn't mean the county cupboards were bare.

Roanoke-Benson senior Hannah Knepp and Ottawa Marquette sophomore Cordy Murphy headed the 2009 Tri-County All-Conference Volleyball Tournament with unanimous selection.
St. Bede sophomore Kayla MacDavitt was also named to the first team along with seniors Lori Privratsky of Henry-Senachwine and Bailie Bongartz of Marquette and junior McKensie Vissering of Peoria Christian.
St. Bede was also represented by sophomore Bethany Stavrakas, who earned third-team honors along with DePue senior Carmen Lopez.

The St. Bede Lady Bruins were able to sneak in with the fifth and final qualifying team position in Saturday's 1A Seneca cross country regional.
Sophomore Kayla MacDavitt came over from the volleyball squad to lead the Lady Bruins with an 11th-place time of 23 minutes and 28 seconds.
Right behind was senior Lucy Stanke in 13th place in 23:52.

Area cross country teams braved the cold and wet conditions to compete in cross country regionals across the state Saturday.
At Seneca, the Ottawa Marquette boys and girls teams both qualified for next Saturday's Class 1A Aurora Christian Sectional as teams.
So, too, did the St. Bede girls team.

The Lady Panthers gave the host Lady Bruins a battle to the end before falling 27-25 in the first set.
St. Bede had a little more breathing room in the second set with a 25-15 victory.
Kayla MacDavitt led the Lady Bruins (16-11-2, 7-2) with five kills and two blocks; Molly Scott had a team-high nine digs and Jillian Stariha served for nine points.

On the Senior Night at St. Bede Academy, the Lady Bruins honored seniors Jillian Stariha, Anna O'Sadnick, Molly Scott and manager Emily Sons.
The seniors won their final home game at the Academy, but it was hard-fought as Putnam County forced extra play in game one and challenged the Lady Bruins again in game two before St. Bede pulled out the 27-25, 25-15 victory.

The St. Bede volleyball team is building some momentum after coming just short of a Tri-County Conference Tournament title this past weekend.
After beating Somonauk in three games Monday, St. Bede welcomed the DePue Lady Giants to the Academy, and the Lady Bruins did not offer a warm welcome as they dominated the Lady Giants in two games 25-4, 25-9.

St. Bede coach Dawn Williams was a little nervous entering Monday night's non-conference game with the Somonauk Lady Bobcats after a long homecoming weekend at the Academy, but her Lady Bruins came away with the 25-19, 22-25, 25-16 victory Monday night in Somonauk.
"The girls had their homecoming dance last night and I thought we were a step slow tonight," Williams said.
"We were flat and a little slow, but I was proud of the way the girls responded tonight."
